What is Lemurian Quartz?
Lemurian quartz is a specific variety of natural quartz (SiO₂)
characterized by pronounced horizontal striations across its
prismatic faces. These striations are the result of interrupted
growth conditions during crystallization, where temperature and
mineral supply fluctuated over geological time. The structural
record of these growth pauses is what distinguishes Lemurian quartz
from standard quartz formations.

Where is Authentic Lemurian Quartz Found?
Genuine Lemurian quartz comes exclusively from the Serra do Cabral
region in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The original deposit, discovered
in the late 1990s, produces crystals with the defining horizontal
ladder-like striations and a characteristic frosted or matte surface.
Material marketed as Lemurian from other regions does not share the
same geological origin or structural features.

How to Identify a Real Lemurian Quartz Crystal?
Authentic Lemurian quartz displays sharp, parallel horizontal
striations on at least three of the six prismatic faces. The surface
often appears slightly frosted from natural etching, and many specimens
retain a pinkish or reddish tint from iron oxide deposits. Specimens
without these structural features should not be classified as Lemurian.

What Determines the Quality of a Lemurian Quartz Specimen?
Quality is evaluated by the depth and clarity of the striations,
internal transparency, termination integrity, and the presence of
natural surface features such as etching or iron staining. High-grade
Lemurian specimens show pronounced striations across multiple faces,
sharp terminations, and minimal damage from extraction.

Why Each Lemurian Quartz Crystal is Unique?
The horizontal striations record the specific growth conditions of
each individual crystal — a geological signature that cannot be
replicated. Variations in striation depth, surface etching, internal
phantoms, and color zoning reflect the unique environment in which
each specimen formed within the Serra do Cabral deposit.
